EYFS Policy

At St Johns we know that the Early Years Foundation Stage is a crucial stage in your child's development. Our intention is to provide our children with rich experiences to help build both their vocabulary and cultural capital. We ensure that our indoor and outdoor provision is exciting, engaging and provides children with opportunities to build their skills across all areas of learning. We follow the Curiosity Approach and fill our classrooms with resources that are authentic, natural and relevant to the children, as well as creating an environment that is language rich. We believe in the power of child led play, and we encourage children to be independent, risk takers and resilient from day one! The EYFS team at St Johns are dedicated to building warm, nurturing relationships with both children and parents, to ensure that all adults in a child's life are working together effectively to enable them to succeed and thrive at school. We invite parents to take part in their child's learning as much as possible, and hold lots of parent workshops throughout the year. Our broad and balanced curriculum is carefully planned to ensure we teach skills across all areas of learning sequentially and in a way that ignites the children's excitement! We provide real life experiences as much as possible throughout the year including baking, trips, themed days and even having real life tadpoles, caterpillars and ducklings in our classrooms!
